Sort. Remove clutter and any unneeded materials, scrap, papers, etc. from the work area.
Set in Order. Locate the items needed to do the job in convenient, well marked storage areas.
Shine. Clean the work area and mark any areas set aside for scrap or recycling.
Standardize. Set a standard for what good product looks like - hold everything to that standard.
Self-discipline. Sustain the improvement by making 5S second nature: keep the area clean and organized.
